Annotation: As a part of the underwater archaeology projects, the Department of Classical Archeology, the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts at Trnava University in Trnava, collaborates with the AKITO DIVING team aimed at supporting scientific diving.
On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, a special lecture on underwater archaeology will be held, where Andrea Kiss will introduce you to the methods of research and monitoring of underwater archaeological sites in different conditions of seas, rivers, lakes and caves from different parts of the world.
Title of the lecture: "Diving into the past" (The lecture will be in English).
Archaeological sites under water require a different approach to locating and excavating the site, equipment and procedures for the research itself are different then the ones on land. The training of the scientific team itself, which participates in the excavation of the underwater location is demanding. Different environments and different types of artefacts require an adequate level of diving training, experience and skills in working and documenting underwater.
