Pálffyovci a ich portrétna reprezentácia v 18. storočí (cca 1690-1770)
Interdisciplinárne a internacionálne zameraný projekt spája dve dôležité témy bádania: aristokratický portrét v habsburskom podunajskom regióne a tému Pálffyovcov ako mecenášov a zberateľov umenia. Styčným bodom je obdobie 18. storočia, kedy portrét v službách aristokratickej reprezentácie dosiahol svoju konjunkciu a zároveň sa Pálffyovci dostali medzi absolútnu elitu v radoch habsburskej monarchie. Danej problematike dosiaľ vôbec nebola venovaná pozorosť, napriek tomu, že v našich múzeách a galériách sa zachovalo vyše sto podobizní z 18. storočia spätých s Pálffyovcami. K dispozícii máme aj dobové inventáre z tretej štvrtiny 18. storočia referujúce o zariadení červenokamenských komnát užívaných mladšou vetvou rodu. Dôvodom prečo problematika dosiaľ nebola riešená sú najmä nejasné okolností užívania rodového sídla Červený Kameň v 18. storočí obomi vetvami rodu popri sebe, čo viedlo k ich vzájomným konfliktom a dlhoročným súdnym sporom.
The Pálffy´s and their Representation in Portraits during the 18th Century (cca 1690-1770)
The interdisciplinary and internationally focused project combines two important themes of research: an aristocratic portraiture in the Habsburg Danube Region and the Pálffy´s as patrons and collectors of art. The connection between these themes is the 18th century when a portrait was not only the important form of an aristocratic representation, but also the Pálffy´s were included among the absolute Habsburg aristocratic elite. There has been paid no attention to the issue, despite the fact that in our museums and galleries, there areprserved more than a hundred of the 18th-century portraits from the Pálffy branch and we have also inventories from the 18th century of the rooms in the Red Stone Castle used by by the younger branch of the genus. The reason why the issue has not been solved till now is mainly the unclear situaltion and circumstances of the use of the Red Stone castle in the 18th century by both branches of the family, which led to their mutual conflicts and long-lasting litigation.
