 Demands

  • for the study of foreign literature, exchange of scientific information and wider international co-operation is important to know at least two world languages and to operate computer technology at needed level

Full-time Bachelor Study

Graduate:

  • will acquire main knowledge about the history and archaeology of Ancient Civilisations and Roman provinces (particularly Danubian), about the boundary regions of Ancient world, about the position of Slovakia at the frontier of Roman Empire, about the material and spiritual culture and about the Art
  • will absorb practical knowledge about the excavation, its methods, techniques and documentation
  • is able to work independently in the field of documentation, basic processing of collections in museums and galleries with the help of scientific literature
  • can manage the work connected with the evidence of remains and their protection in museums and scientific institutuions
  • can handle the techniques of archaeological excavation, mainly the rescue excavation and create basic documentation
  • can work as a technical employee in museums, monuments protection offices and scientific institutions and can work as a lector in museums and galleries etc.

Full-time Master Study

Graduate:

  • is able to use and develop the knowledge acquired during the study
  • can independently and creatively approach solving the questions of basic research
  • can use current information from literature and can apply them for the needs of own research or new interpretations of remains
  • is able to interpret the remains of material culture in term of the needs of Classical Archaeology
  • can orientate in the archaeological structures and use the material obtained by excavation for the analysis and synthesis
  • is able to lead and organize the archaeological research, expertly evaluate the results of research in term of regional and subregional relations
  • after completing the study is expected to continue in improving and specializing regarding to possibilities provided by workplace
  • can creatively approach to scientific work and can publish achived results

Full-time and External Doctoral Study

Graduate:

  • has a profound theoretical and practical knowledge in particular specialisation (according to academic dissertation)
  • is able to create independent creative scientific work
  • can solve complicated questions of theoretical research and use practical knowledge
  • can critically use academic literature and results of interdisciplinal research
  • at the profesional level can independently lead archaeological research and use avaiable progressive methods
  • can identify archaeological material and use it for the needs of interpretation and synthesis of examined problem

 Graduate of Master and Doctoral Study can operate as a

  • scientific employee in academic institutions, museums, preservation institutions, galleries, cultural-education and extension institutions, in editorial offices and in masmedia
  • employee of universities and instituts of the Academy of Science with specialization to classical archaeology, archaeology, art history of ancient civilisations and ancient history
  • employee in commercial scope
