We are pleased to invite researchers, doctoral candidates, students, civil society representatives, policy actors, and practitioners to an international hybrid workshop on youth housing, emotional dimensions of policy, and inclusive housing governance in the Visegrad region.

The workshop will bring together participants from Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, alongside international colleagues, to critically engage with fi ndings from four national case studies. Through cross-country dialogue, participants will compare national perspectives, identify shared challenges and context-specifi c differences, and explore possible responses to pressing housing-related issues affecting young people.

The event forms part of a wider comparative research initiative focused on strengthening the understanding of how housing governance can become more inclusive and emotionally responsive across the V4 region. It will create a space to validate and refi ne comparative fi ndings, develop policy-relevant refl ections, and support sustained transnational cooperation among emerging and established scholars, civil-society organisations and other relevant actors.

We particularly encourage participation from:

  • Researchers and academic staff working in social policy, housing studies, youth studies, public policy, sociology, geography, urban studies, psychology, social work, political science, human rights, or related fi elds
  • Doctoral candidates, early-career researchers and university students interested in comparative research, housing, youth, social policy or emotional dimensions of public policy
  • Representatives of civil-society organisations, NGOs and community-based initiatives working on housing, homelessness, social inclusion, youth support, mental health, poverty reduction or human rights
  • Housing practitioners, social workers, youth workers, municipal and local government representatives, and public-service providers
  • International experts and stakeholders interested in cross-national research collaboration, knowledge exchange and future European research initiatives

Participation is possible in person in Prague or online. We welcome participants from all V4 countries and beyond. The workshop aims to:

  • Present and discuss comparative fi ndings from national case studies in Poland, Czechia, Hungary and Slovakia
  • Facilitate cross-national exchange on youth housing contexts, challenges and policy responses
  • Explore the emotional dimensions of housing experiences and housing-related policy
  • Offer an interactive training session on comparative case-study analysis and emotions in policy research
  • Bring academic, civil-society and practitioner perspectives into dialogue
  • Identify shared research gaps, potential policy implications and opportunities for future cooperation
  • Contribute to the preparation of a comparative report and an open-access typology
  • Support discussion of future joint research, including possible collaboration towards a Horizon Europe application
