Project description:

The project is based on the education and training of young people in the field of archaeological excavation, restoration, protection and presentation of the UNESCO monument - the Roman fort in Iža/Kelemantia (SK), which is located on the North Pannonian border - limes Romanus.

The project is planned as a summer school for students of archaeology and history under the guidance of experts from partner organisations. The main aim of the project is to give young people the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice; to improve their ability to protect and present historical monuments to the public; to broaden their knowledge of ancient civilisation and its influence on the historical development of Central Europe through the exploration of Roman monuments in the Central Danube region. The project is based on the cooperation of partners in the field of education, study and preservation of the ancient heritage and the influence of Roman civilisation on the historical development in the V4 countries.

The project includes real archaeological research, lectures, workshops, discussions and excursions. Students participate in guiding visitors and tourists in the area of the Roman fortress, which is an open-air museum. The project involves social and cultural cooperation, which will contribute to broadening professional and personal contacts between the V4 participants and local residents, especially young people, as well as visitors and tourists from Slovakia and EU countries.
